I am a System SW Validation Principal Engineer at Intel, and have been doing test for the last 33 years.

I have an EE degree. After school, I worked as Test Engineer for 11 years at Intel’s Fab8 in Jerusalem (Israel). I did wafer-level chip testing (Wafer Sort operation). I tested 8086, 186, 286, 386 & 486’s… (remember?)

After a few years of this, I realized that EE is nice, but most of my work has to do with programming: the chip testers were controlled by software, and running analysis or creating reports – all meant writing code. So I took a number of B.A. level courses in Computer Science, and eventually ended up as a Software Test Engineer at Intel’s design center in Jerusalem – across the road from the fab. The fab, incidentally, was closed in 2007 after surviving for ~25 years (an unusually long life for chips fab).

I tested mainly embedded stuff: Cable Modem, WiFi, Bluetooth, drivers for TV set-top boxes, Graphics drivers for Intel’s mainline chips, 3D cameras, and Intel’s Converged Security Engine. Currently I am part of Intel’s Incubation and Disruptive Innovation (IDI) group working on an innovative medical solution. 

I define test strategies and work methodologies for the test team and sometimes even get to test something myself (which I enjoy most). In my current role I also lead the medical regulatory activities. 

I do some “extra curriculum” work:

• Executive Board member of the Israeli Test Certification Board (ITCB) and ISTQB‘s liaison to the ISO workgroup that develops and maintains the SW testing standard (ISO 29119).
• Column writer in Testing World (a Hebrew magazine for SW testing)
• Teaching a graduate level course on SW Testing in the Hebrew University in Jerusalem
• Member of the Technical  Committee of QA&Test conference

I hold a full Advanced ISTQB Certification, Automation expert and Agile Foundation. I am ITCB’s Examination Officer.

I do training at Intel and present papers in conferences.… which is the main reason for this web site: to share these papers with the testing community.
